Swimbridge Primary School, Devon - aiming for excellence and enjoyment in education

Welcome to SWIMBRIDGE PRIMARY SCHOOL, Devon, England. Recommended in the Good Schools Guide - the top Primary School in the South-West (25th in England) in the 2003 primary league tables. 1st in North Devon in the 2005 and 2007 value-added tables.

Nestling in the rolling North Devon Countryside, Swimbridge C.E. Primary School has been a centre for local education since the 1790s when it was established in the 'Old Schoolroom' adjacent to the Parish Church.

It occupied its present interesting Victorian building in 1866. This has since been extended and modified to provide a welcoming educational environment for children in the new millennium. In 2003 the school was further extended with a new admin block.

The school caters for children from the age of just under 5 to 11+. The 80 or so pupils are arranged into four classes in the morning ( three classes during the afternoon), each with its own teacher, along with  experienced teaching assistants and part time staff who further extend the curriculum and provide additional support.

The latest Ofsted Inspection (February 2008) awarded Swimbridge School an average gradein, GOOD (satisfactory is average) with some OUTSTANDING features!
