Dear Parents,
School closes this afternoon for the Easter Holiday and re-opens on Monday 15th April.
During, or soon after the holiday we hope to have class 2 redecorated and a new fence built on one side of the school field. It looks likely that work on the Office extension/upgrading of the Boys cloakroom will take place during the summer.
For lunchtime play activities we are still in need of dressing up clothes, unwanted board games, Lego etc.
Our appeal for Tesco computer vouchers now stands at 4,860. Please help if you can.
Schools have been asked to remind parents that children should not normally be away on holiday during term time, although a headteacher can authorise up to 10 days in exceptional circumstances.
Schools have a responsibility to inform the Schools Welfare Officer (Attendance Officer) of any unauthorised absences. Any absence from school does disrupt a child?s education and can result in him/her missing some vital teaching. Please consider your child?s education before you consider a family holiday during term time.
Congratulations to Mathew Grose and Richard Tucker for completing 30 books for Bookworms
Many thanks to those who organised last Fridays popular disco.
Don?t forget the Art Exhibition at the Phoenix Gallery, Exeter 27th March ? 20th April 2002. Some artwork by our pupils is on display.
Dates for your diary:
April 30th - School Photograph
May 13th ? Test Week
May 20th - Residential Week to Paignton
Happy Easter

Dear Parents,
Thanks to your tremendous efforts we now have 3760 Tesco computer vouchers. Kings College Choir School in Cambridge are not collecting vouchers and have decided to collect for us! Please encourage all your work colleagues, friends, neighbours and relations to support us. The 12,500 tokens we need can provide us with a £1,000 computer ? once again!
Our Bookfair was well supported. Besides giving many children a further boost with their reading it has helped provide funds for even more books in school.
Next Thursday (21st March) classes 2 & 3 will be involved in the South Molton Academic Council Science Fair at the Assembly Rooms, South Molton and is open to parents and friends from 10.00 am - 12.30 pm. There will be refreshments and an opportunity to see some of our pupils' science activities, as well as seeing contributions from our guests. Pupils, teachers and other contributors have been preparing for the South Molton Science Fair over the last few months.
All of the schools in the South Molton area are contributors to the fair and pupils from each of the schools will be exhibiting work. Outside contributors include Exeter and Plymouth universities, Devon Arts in Schools, Exmoor Wildlife Park, the Barn Owl Resources, South Molton Recycling and there will be a bookstall. This will provide further opportunity for pupils to use their world Book Day Tokens if they have not already used them. As well as visitors from some of the schools, parents are welcome at the event, which is part of national Science Year and which has been supported by the Association for Science Education and the British Association for the Advancement of Science.
Next Friday (March 22nd) there will be a children's disco in the Jubilee Hall. Watch out for a further letter about this.
As always teachers are happy to discuss children's progress with parents. Please book an after school consultation session.

Dear Parents,
I am sure you will be pleased to hear that five pieces of art work produced by some of our older children, on the theme of'a special place ', have been selected by the South West Academy of Fine & Applied Arts. Many schools offered work and have been unsuccessful. We sent ten items and five were chosen. Those to be displayed were produced by Charlotte Haydn-Higgins, Joanne Blackmore, Jessica Beer, Emma Birch and Alastair Roberts (whose picture, along with 40 others will be featured in the Academy?s catalogue). The exhibition will be from 27th March - 20th April at Phoenix, Brandnich Place, Gandy Street, Exeter. - you are invited to view the work.
Don?t forget we are actively collecting Tesco computer Vouchers for Schools. Currently we have over 3,210. We need lots more please!

Dear Parents,
Many thanks to the 59% of parents who responded to our recent Parents' Questionnaire. The results are currently being analysed and will be discussed with staff and Governors. A copy of the findings will be sent to parents but I can say that we have been overwhelmed by the support and positive attitudes.
As you know for many years there has been a proposal to upgrade the boys' cloakroom and provide adequate administration facilities. Apparently this scheme will soon be going out to tender with the hope that building work will start within a few months.
We are busy collecting Tesco Vouchers to obtain a RM PC. In the last two years both classes 2 and 3 received a new multi-media PC through this scheme. With your help we can do it again! Currently we have 1760 vouchers; we need 12,580. For those who shop at Sainsbury's there is an additional scheme ? please see overleaf. However, you will need to register by 1 March 2002 (tomorrow!).
If your child (from 5 upwards) likes singing take them along to Landkey Methodist Church School Rooms on Wednesday at 5.00 pm to join a local youth choir.
If your child likes Easter eggs the Jack Russell Inn is holding an Easter Egg Hunt on Easter Monday at 3.00 pm ? see the notice board for details of both of these.
As always if you would like to discuss your child's progress at school, please book an after school consultation with your child's teacher.
We constantly have unclaimed lost property in school. To improve this, please ensure that all of your child's clothing (including shoes and plimsolls) are labelled. A large strong bag (such as a plimsoll bag) which can hang from your child's peg is a vital piece of equipment in which to store PE clothing, etc. If your child does not have a plimsoll bag (or similar) please provide him/her with one as soon as possible.
Currently we provide extra curricular activities in French, maths, brass tuition, flute tuition. If any parents have any skills/interests in child centred
