Limericks
During Literacy Hour Years 4, 5 and 6 have been studying Limericks, made popular by Edward Lear and others.A limerick's cleverly versed-
The second line rhymes with the first;
The third one is short,
The fourth's the same sort,
And the last line is often the worst.

Here are some of our offerings:-

When I was walking down the road
I bumped into a big fat toad
She drinks lots of tea
Her boyfriend is Lee
Or so I'm reliably told!

Steph.is a girl at Swimbridge School,
She acts like she is very cool,

At home I've got a homemade sink
We painted it with lots of pink
We have a big shower
It has no more power
I won't have a wash, I think!

Every weekday we go to our school,
On Wednesday we play football.
We have some good times,
Writing these rhymes.
Swimbridge School is the best, cool school.
Becky and Melissa

This school has no hall but is really cool.
This place is a very, a very old school.
The head wears glasses
And takes lots of classes.
And we go into town to the pool .
Phoenix and Trudy.

There was a girl at Swimbridge School
Who thought her school was really cool
She was good every day
At night wanted to stay
She liked the food at Swimbridge School

Every day we go to our school
When the heating's not on it's so cool
Playtime is fun
We get out and run
But the head is not very tall.
Andrew and Naomi.
