Swimbridge Primary School, Devon - aiming for excellence and enjoyment in education

Welcome to SWIMBRIDGE PRIMARY SCHOOL, Devon, England - the top Primary School in the South-West (25th in England) in the 2003 primary league tables. Recommended in the Good Schools Guide.

Nestling in the rolling North Devon Countryside, Swimbridge C.E. Primary School has been a centre for local education since the 1790s when it was established in the 'Old Schoolroom' adjacent to the Parish Church.

It occupied its present interesting Victorian building in 1866. This has since been extended and modified to provide a welcoming educational environment for children in the new millennium. In 2003 the school was further extended with a new admin block.

The school caters for children from the age of just under 5 to 11+. The 90 or so pupils are arranged into four classes, each with its own teacher, along with experienced teaching assistants and part time staff who further extend the curriculum and provide additional support. In addition we have breakfast and after school childcare facilities on site.

The latest Ofsted Inspection (February 2008) awarded Swimbridge School a GOOD grade (satisfactory is average) with many OUTSTANDING features.

"A GOOD School where children achieve well. It has some OUTSTANDING features". Ofsted Report February 2008

"This is a successful school. It has been ranked among the top 5% each year since 2001." All areas OUTSTANDING. National Society Inspection of Anglican Schools Feb.2008
